Incoterms define where cost and risk move from seller to buyer. Choosing the right one matters as much as the price per tonne.
Under FOB the buyer nominates the vessel and carries the risk once cargo is loaded. CFR and CIF shift freight (and, under CIF, minimum insurance) to the seller, while risk still passes at loading.
DAP places the goods at your named destination ready for unloading — the simplest option for first-time importers, but usually the highest landed price.
Whatever term you choose, align it with your letter of credit, insurance cover and the documents you need at destination.
